# Privacy

What tnotes and tnotes.app collect: the app sends nothing anywhere; the website uses cookie-free Vercel Web Analytics and sets no cookies.

## The application

tnotes runs entirely on your machine. It makes no network requests: no update checks, no crash reports, no telemetry, no analytics. It writes only to the note folders you configure, to its config file (`~/.config/tnotes/config.toml`) and to its session state (`~/.local/state/tnotes/`). Nothing is written next to your notes except a `.Trash/` directory per root. If you sync or encrypt the folder, that is between you and the tool you chose; see [sync and encryption](/docs/sync).

## The website

tnotes.app is a static site on Vercel. It sets no cookies and has no forms, accounts or third-party embeds. Fonts are self-hosted. Page views are counted with [Vercel Web Analytics](https://vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy), which records the page, referrer, country and device class without cookies or persistent identifiers; a visitor hash is derived from the request and discarded within 24 hours. There is no way to identify you from it, and there is nothing to opt out of beyond a content blocker, which the site works fine with.

Vercel, as the host, sees standard request logs (IP address, user agent, URL) for the purpose of serving the site; see [Vercel's privacy policy](https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy).
